Metcalfe County Board Meeting Summary
EDMONTON, Ky. (April 11, 2020) – The Metcalfe County Board of Education met in regular session on Tuesday, April 14, 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the board approved a resolution that allowed the meeting to be closed to in-person public attendance. The meeting was streamed online at www.metcalfeschools.com and SCRTC channel 95.
On the agenda, board members unanimously approved the appointment and contract for Josh Hurt as the district’s next superintendent. Hurt, a current district director of instruction, succeeds Dr. Benny Lile, who announced his pending retirement in November. Hurt’s contract is effective July 1, 2020 and will run through June 30, 2024.
The board also approved the renewal of the non-traditional instruction day (NTID) project for the 2020-21 school year, accepted the KETS third offer of assistance for $6,570, and authorized the superintendent to set the closing date of the 2019-20 school year.
Superintendent Benny Lile addressed the board and the online audience about the district’s updated response to the COVID-19 pandemic. He praised everyone’s hard work, dedication, and communication during this unprecedented time.
Due to the virtual board meeting, there were student or staff recognitions, which are sponsored by Alliance Corporation, RBS Design Group, and Glass & Thompson Insurance.
The next board meeting is Tuesday, May 12, 2020, at 6 pm at the Metcalfe County Board of Education on West Stockton Street.
