Metcalfe County Board Meeting Summary

 

EDMONTON, Ky. (August 16, 2019) – The Metcalfe County Board of Education met in regular session on Thursday, August 15, 2019.

 

Board members approved the 2019-20 property and motor vehicle tax rates. The property tax rate was set at 53.9 with .3 for exornations, while the motor vehicle tax will remain the same for the fourth consecutive year at 56.6. This was the compensating rate as calculated by the Kentucky Department of Education. The board also approved an across the board pay increase of 1% for all employees.

 

In addition, the board approved, under emergency declarations, filling a preschool teaching position at MCES and a science teaching position at MCHS pending notification from the Education Professional Standards Board.

 

The board made a very special presentation to Mr. George Dale Russell. More than 50 years after attending Metcalfe County High School, Mr. Russell was awarded his diploma. Specialist Russell left MCHS to join the U.S. Army and fought for our country in the Vietnam War.

 

The board also recognized two Students of the Month for August. Anna Humphrey recently placed 5th in Language Arts at the National Beta Convention in Oklahoma City. Allie Thomas placed 10th in Creative Writing. Ms. Whitney Barger, the district’s nurse practitioner, was recognized as the Employee of the Month for August.
