METCALFE COUNTY SCHOOLS
Inclement Weather Procedures
During inclement weather Metcalfe County Schools have administrators evaluating road conditions in all areas of the county. The process of making a decision to delay, dismiss or cancel classes requires a lot of planning. We take the safety of our parents, students, and staff very seriously and base or decision on this safety. The intent of the school district is to make this decision and communicate a message to students, parents, and staff as early as possible.
Metcalfe County Schools will communicate school closing information to local television stations (Channel 13 WBKO, Channel 40 WNKY) and radio stations (99.1 The Hoss, 102.3 WCLU, 95.1 WGGC.) We will post the information on our district website www.metcalfeschools.com, our facebook page and twitter. The district will communicate to all parents, students, and staff through the ONE CALL MESSENGER SYSTEM. Please tune in to one of these outlets in the case of inclement weather.
The decision to cancel classes will be made at approximately 5:00 am. At this time all communication outlets will be notified to pass along the closing to all parents, students, and staff.
The decision to delay school will also be made at approximately 5:00 am. This will either be a 1 hour or 2-hour delay. During a delay, school will end at the same time in the afternoon and the district will not run PRESCHOOL BUS ROUTES.
School Early Dismissal
The decision to dismiss school is based on current weather conditions and predicted forecasts. Metcalfe County School administrators monitor the weather and base their decision on forecast and what is happening across the state. Notification will be sent as soon as a decision is made to dismiss. Staff will remain at the building until all students have been delivered or picked up from school safely. During an early dismissal, the district will not run PRESCHOOL BUS ROUTES.
We ask that parents monitor all of the above communication outlets in the event of inclement weather. All information will be communicated as quickly as possible.
