EDMONTON, Ky. (November 12, 2021) – The Metcalfe County Board of Education met in regular session on Tuesday, November 9, 2021.
At the meeting, auditors presented the findings of the 2021 financial audit. The district’s finances were found to be in good order. Metcalfe County Schools received a clean opinion with no deficiencies.
“The audit attests that we are good stewards of our money,” Superintendent Josh Hurt said. “We are doing okay financially, and we are not losing money. What that’s allowed us to do is hold the line on taxes, which I’m pleased to see.”
The board approved the audit in a unanimous vote.
On the agenda, the board approved adjustments to the salary schedule under classified staff, approved two action items related to the high school bleacher replacement project, approved surplus items from the high school cafeteria, approved a KETS (Kentucky Technology Education Systems) offer of assistance for $12,303, and approved board meeting dates for January 2022 through June 2022. The board recognized 10-year-old Hendrix Graham as the November Student of the Month. Hendrix is a 5th-grade student at Metcalfe County Elementary School. Kindergarten paraeducator Jordan Harper was named Classified Employee of the Month, and Angela Simpson, who teaches 1st-grade, was named Certified Teacher of the Month.
