High School Yearbooks on Sale!

Anyone interested in buying a 2014-2015 yearbook contact Mrs.TJ Coffey at the high school.  Cost of the yearbook is $55.00. 

Senior ads for the yearbook are 1/8 page $35.00, 1/4 page $60.00, 1/2 page $ 100.00, Full page $150.00.  Ads are due by April 3, 2014.



Sylvia Acree Retires from Metcalfe County Middle School

Sylvia Acree, recently retired from the Metcalfe County School District was presented a plaque by Board Chairman, Mr. Joey Shive.

Julie Simmons Recognized As Certified Employee of the Month

Julie Simmons is a kindergarten teacher at Metcalfe Elementary and is being recognized as certified employee of the month.  A colleague made this comment about Ms. Simmons, “I feel as though I have gained knowledge each time I am in her classroom.”  Julie possesses great qualities such as kindness, commitment, dedication and a strong work ethic.

John Zurmehly Receives Staff of the Month

John Zurmehly is recognized for outstanding classified employee of the month at Metcalfe Elementary School.  Mr. Zurmehly goes above and beyond each day and is always willing to assist children.  John enjoys spending time with his family and is also a member in the Armed Reserves.


Whitley Gibson is Recognized as Student of the Month

Whitley Gibson is an excellent student that follows the Leader in Me concept at all times.  Whitley encourages others around her to do their best and has a wonderful personality.  Whitley strives to learn all that she can and wants to become a teacher someday.  She can be seen teaching younger children in the faculty workroom most days after school.  Whitley enjoys reading and sewing clothes for Barbie.

Emily Shaw Recognized as Student of the Month

Emily Shaw is a third grade student at Metcalfe Elementary School and on a daily basis goes above and beyond what is expected.  Emily demonstrates leadership qualities by always putting “First Things First.” Emily has been known to demonstrate her leadership abilities with peer teaching activities on the class SMART board.  Emily enjoys farming and work that involves her cows.

Cabot Boling Recognized as Student of the Month

Cabot Boling a third grade student at Metcalfe Elementary School.  He enjoys football, basketball, baseball and also has a love for reading.  Recently he helped another student complete a reading task and is always a model student for exemplary leadership skills.

Metcalfe County Film Festival

Prizes will be awarded in all age categories.

Grading Policy Correction
The grading policy in the student handbook is not correct. The correct percentages of each catagory are:
50 % Tests
20 % Project/Quiz/Research Paper
10 % Homework
20% Final
